Multiple people at Brown University have been injured during an active shooting situation ... according to Providence, Rhode Island police.
The university shared news of the shooting Saturday afternoon ... updating students and members of the community that an active shooter was near the Barus and Holley Building on the east side of the campus.
While university officials previously said a suspect is in custody, a later alert corrected that error. There is no one in custody at this time ... and the admin still recommends those on campus stay quiet and lock themselves inside buildings if possible.

Detroit rapper Baby Smoove was arrested earlier this week on a number of drug charges -- but he swiftly posted bail.
Here's the deal ... Smoove -- real name Jaelin Deanta Parker -- was pulled over in Miami late Wednesday night while driving a heavily tinted yellow Lamborghini, police say in online records. When the officer from the Miami Police Department approached the posh car, they "observed a cloud of smoke ... and a strong odor of marijuana." The officer also noted a black handgun under the driver's seat, and at that point, all occupants were asked to exit the vehicle for the officer's safety.
Police say the musician and 2 passengers were swiftly arrested because they were not legally prohibited to posess any firearms, and the gun was readily available for each one to grab.

The cause of death was not immediately shared. The Nueces County Medical Examiner tells TMZ ... they got notification of his death this morning and did not accept jurisdiction, meaning there is no investigation into his death because there is no suspicion of trauma, foul play or something that would raise an alarm about his passing. The body has been released to a funeral home, we're told.

Peter Greene, an actor best known for playing villains in flicks such as "Pulp Fiction" and "The Mask," has died.
Greene was found dead Friday in his Manhattan apartment, his manager Gregg Edwards confirms to TMZ. He tells us his body was discovered after a neighbor heard music playing all night and knocked on the door. When there was no answer, they contacted police. Authorities arrived for a wellness check and found him deceased.

The Grammy winner suddenly brought her Saturday night concert in Australia to a screeching halt after one of her dancers fell off the stage as they were sliding on their legs down the runway. It's all on video -- everyone was strutting down the stage as Gaga sang "Garden of Eden." You can see the dancer, named Michael Dameski, glide right off the end of the stage, made slippery due to heavy rainfall.
Gaga immediately stopped the production to tend to Michael and then led an applause as she confirmed he was A-okay. Those at the venue said on social media she stalled the concert long enough so crew members could find him some shoes with better grip.
